One day this week, a Class 2 student was trying to unlock a level in Super Tux Kart, but I realized she didn't know how to progress from one level to the next.So I sat with her to teach her how to win keys and move to the next level. When I was in the process of teaching her, she kept asking me, “hizi kifuli ni za nini”,&nbsp;then I went on answering her question. I explained to her in kiswahili so that she could understand better.The next day, which was on Tuesday, the girls came to me and said she wanted to try the game. She was playing on the previous day, then the girl put the game on herself and started playing.Surprisingly the girl unlocked all the levels that were there then he called me, “Teacher Nimefungua kifuli zote.” I was like wow, this is great!Then I requested the rest of the pupils to clap for her so that she can do better than that the next session. The girl was very happy and excited. She was telling other kids that, “kumbe nawafunza”&nbsp;in the next lesson.

There was a boy in Class 7, Group B by the name Lin Ekaru. During the video production session where Allan was teaching them an introduction to OpenShot, Lin was struggling very hard to learn.Then the second day, the boy came to seek permission from me so that he can join the other pupils who were being taught in the next lesson by Allan. Then I let the boy in, so that he can improve in video production and perfect it.Surprisingly&nbsp;the boy ends up teaching other students on how to drag the video, divide the screen and to create an account. Everybody was shouting his name "Lin! Lin! Lin! Kuja nionyeshe hapa.”

A Class 7 student struggled in an introductory lesson this week, but after asking to join another group for a second try, he became the star pupil.

Today I had another student attending computer class for the first day. He is a Grade 4, Group B student by the name Kevin.When Kevin came to the lab, he was so very talkative. He was so excited to be in computer class that he said he has never seen such a wonderful day like today.Kevin said that when he goes home, he will tell his parents all about computer class. Seeing a new student so excited about learning digital skills and so happy to be in school made my day lovely.

<h2>Block Coding In Chepyuan</h2>As the school lead educator at Chepyuan school, I was excited to have Evanso, our Coding specialist come to introduce my students to Block Coding with MIT Scratch. Scratch is a coding program we use for kids to make games and animations. The pupils in Chepyuan have been learning and sharing new Scratch skills each class.<h2>Learning New Digital Skills</h2>Jepkemoi is a Grade 4 Group B pupil in Chepyuan. She knew how to change the background of her Scratch game, but didn't know how to make her sprites move. She asked a lot of questions like "hadi anasema mbona paka yangu aisongi mimi? (Why isn't my cat moving?)" That was great laugh in a class, imagine everyone wanted to know the same.<h2>Shared Success</h2>By the end of class, Jepkemoi had figured out how to move her sprite with code. Every pupil was calling her, "Memoi came and teach me!" (Memoi is short for Jepkemoi.) She really focused and struggled to learn how to write that code, and she was good enough to teach the other pupils in her class.

Stanley is a community developer by profession, and a freelance writer on the side. At Techlit Africa, Stanley has been a school lead educator for many schools, including Logiri Primary and Barrina Primary in and around Mogotio, Kenya.

<h2>Specialty Classes</h2>In TechLit computer classes we have many different specialties designed to help students discover their unique interests and use them to develop digital skills through project-based learning. Two of the specialties that we have are Graphic Design and Coding.<h2>Finding Unique Interests</h2>Peter is a Grade 6, Group B student at Barrina primary school. Since we introduced him to Inkscape, our vector graphics editor, in Graphic Design class, he emerged as a talented artist. During one of his Graphic Design lessons, he drew a very colorful lorry. And then all of the next school term, he insisted that I show him block coding so that he could animate his colorful lorry.<h2>Project-Based Learning</h2>I decided to call him during break time to teach him the basics of block coding. I am so impressed and motivated as a tutor to get such a young person's needs and to be able to teach them new things every day.
